Who are we
Medical Specialists in the George area are working together with Medi-Clinic to create an
environment offering a wide range of specialised services in the George Medi-Clinic and the
Geneva Medi-Clinic.
We intend to develop an infra structure to ensure that medical practitioners in the Southern
Cape are provided with up to date medical information via the internet and the local press.
We want to to provide up to date health care information to our patients and the public.

Vision
Our vision is to function as a team in George to provide quality care to our patients.
Although we are diverse in our specialities , we wish to find common goals and to participate
in solving problems affecting our medical profession.
To achieve this we need the input of all the medical specialities combined as a dedicated team here in George.
History
The GSA was founded in 1996 when the medical specialists in George joined forces to address medical
issues regarding medical funders and contracts. As a group we also contribute to the idea of
SPESMED (a special medical aid fund) , an idea that has kept the group going for some time. Unfortunately , the GSA slowly
dissolved over the time and it is only since September 2000 that the group revived in the idea of combining a
workforce to identify areas of concern in the utilization of the medical facilities in and around George. The
original idea of providing support services and now also access to information and
communication via the internet is our primary objective.
We are grateful to associate ourselves with Medi-Clinic who recently took over the George and the Geneva
clinics in George , as we believe that this step will lead to a successful expansion of medical services in
George that will benefit our patients.

GSA Online offers the following services to all users:
• A doctor search facility
GSA Online allows users to easily search for information about our members i.e.a specialist in a particular field
practicing in George.
• A health directory for public interest.
GSA Online provides users with an starting point to access relevant information on the internet and to target the
public with articles of interest.
• A newsletter
Also providing a 2 weekly newsletter in collaboration with Medi-Clinic in the George Herald Newspaper.
• An events calendar
This service provides users with information on specific events, such as medical lectures, educational events,
medical seminars in collaboration with the local branch of MASA. We want to coordinate these events with our
sponsors to make sure that important functions do not overlap as we do respect our colleagues limited free
time and to provide ample opportunities for our colleagues to gather their CPD points.

To provide feedback from our members attending congresses and to make these information available to our
colleagues.
